Roger Federer says the thrilling five-set matches on "Manic Monday" were good for tennis, but he is pleased to have made serene progress at Wimbledon.

Federer breezed past Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 on Centre Court yesterday and has yet to drop a set en route to his 50th Grand Slam quarter-final.

His match with Dimitrov lasted just one hour and 37 minutes and was far shorter than the epic between Rafael Nadal and Gilles Muller, which went on for nearly five hours.

Federer will now face Milos Raonic, who had a hard-fought five-set win over Alexander Zverev.

And Federer is happy to have avoided any drama on his way to the last eight. The 18-times Grand Slam winner said: "I like good matches for the crowd. Personally, I get excited just watching it all.

"When Muller has match points, [it is good] to see what Rafa is going to come up with and what Raonic is going to do at the end of the fourth.

"That is exciting. And if you have it over multiple courts at the same time, you almost do not know where to watch. I am a huge tennis fan and this is great for tennis. Mondays here at Wimbledon are very special."

Federer lost to Raonic in the semi-finals last year but is feeling in good shape as he bids for his eighth Wimbledon title.

"I feel like I am rested enough," he said. "I have not had the toughest matches. I can look at this quarter-final in a relaxed fashion. But it is going to be a tough finish."
