Serena Williams would defeat me on grass, says Andy Murray

 

Andy Murray is the world No 2 — but he says he is no match for Serena Williams and even suggested a meeting to prove it.

Responding to tennis fan Tom Carswell, who tweeted: “I recon serena williams could beat u on grass.. And I’m not even joking”.

Murray replied: “Me too! Maybe we can set it up one day and see how close I get.”

Williams, who is vying for her sixth Wimbledon crown and yesterday crushed Luxembourg’s Mandy Minella in just 57 minutes, could warm to the idea after crediting Billie-Jean King for her professional career due to her “inspirational” work lobbying for women’s rights following her famous Battle of the Sexes win against Bobby Riggs in 1973.
