Serena Williams gets a kick out of the cup

10 April 2012

Serena Williams has been glued to the World Cup but is ready to get down to the business of defending her Wimbledon title.

In Serena and her sister Venus, Bob Bradley's United States team have two high-profile supporters.

Serena hopes the Wimbledon schedule will allow her to play a doubles match on Wednesday -when Venus could also be in singles action - and also watch the crucial afternoon match between the USA and Algeria.

"I'm a huge World Cup fan - I live for the World Cup," said Serena. "I just enjoy the matches. I enjoy how all the countries are so involved. They're so into it. It's really, really fun."

But the priority for the reigning champion and her sister is what happens at SW19 over the next fortnight.

"We're here to work and we're here to do our best - hopefully that's taking home a title," said Serena, who will face Portugal's Michelle Larcher De Brito tomorrow.
