Tennis is a stressful game.

And, with such narrow margins between defeat and victory, it is not uncommon to see players lose their cool on court and let an expletive or two slip.

But outspoken Australian Nick Kyrgios completely lost the plot as he crashed out in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters courtesy of a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 defeat to Borna Coric.

A series of errors saw the first set tie break slip away from Kyrgios and he proceeded to smash three of his rackets at the side of the court during a change of ends.

The 21-year-old managed to briefly regain his composure immediately after his bizarre 'hat-trick' but was eventually edged out by Croatian teenager Coric.

Kyrgios is no stranger to controversial outbursts and posted the comment "Sums up my last week" alongside a video of the incident on his official Twitter page.

With the US Open set to start in just over a week, Kyrgios doesn't have much time to make sure his mind is in the right place at Flushing Meadows.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray's superb form continued as he cruised into the third round with a straight sets victory over Juan Monaco.
