Britain's Laura Robson has branded Wimbledon organisers' attempt to schedule her first-round match against Angelique Kerber as a "shambles".
Officials at the All England Club had to re-organise a number of games from the first day after a downpour brought a halt to proceedings yesterday afternoon.
That meant the 17-year-old's match with her German opponent was not given a specific court or time slot on the order of play.
Robson, who is playing in the women's singles for the second time, did not get on to court and had to wait until after 8pm before she was informed that she would not be playing.
She wrote on Twitter: "Bit of a shambles this evening. Had to wait until at least 8pm before they could cancel my match. Oh well! Looking forward to tomorrow :)"
Robson, who parted company with her former coach Patrick Mouratoglou last week, will take on the 23-year-old tomorrow, second on Court 18.
The All England Club defended their scheduling, with a spokesman saying: "With the rain we have had, it was inevitable that there will be one or two frustrations along the way. The referee has had to alter a lot of games in the overall programme."
Bethanie Mattek-Sands, who caused a stir by wearing a dress made from tennis balls at a pre-Wimbledon party last week, was also disappointed at seeing her clash against Misaki Doi postponed.
The duo's encounter was due to be the last played on Court 17, but was called off just after 6pm following Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's win over Go Soeda.

She tweeted: "CANCELLED!! Seriously?? There is plenty of day light left for me to play my match after the mens [sic]. But it is windy as heck so I'll take it."
