The Nitto ATP Finals has kicked off at the O2 for the final time this year before relocating to Turin in 2021.

The end of season showpiece took place in London for the first time in 2009 but its 12th straight time at the O2 in Greenwich will be its last. Ahead of the men’s season finale, here’s all you need to know.

When is it?

The finals begin on Sunday, November 15, and run until Sunday, November 22. Eight singles players battle it out for the title with eight doubles pairings also in action.

Who’s playing?

World No1 Novak Djokovic is in action, so too the world No2 and French Open champion Rafael Nadal. However, Roger Federer is the big-name absentee from the line-up, missing because of injury.

The other players making up the top-eight qualifiers are US Open champion Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev, the 2019 ATP Finals winner Stefanos Tsitsipas, the 2018 champion in London Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Diego Schwartzman.

The draw for both the singles and doubles will take place on Thursday.

Are there any Brits in action?

Joe Salisbury is in action with American partner Rajeev Ram, thanks predominantly to their displays at the Grand Slams in 2020. Salisbury and Ram combined to win the Australian Open then reached the semi-finals of the US Open before a narrow defeat in the quarter-finals of last month’s French Open.

Where to watch it?

The event in London has proved popular with spectators in the previous 11 years but, in light of Covid-19, the stands at the O2 will remain empty.

Every session is live on Amazon Prime while Tennis TV will also be streaming every singles and doubles match. From Sunday to Saturday, there will be live coverage on BBC Two from 1400-1630 with finals coverage from 1800-2100 on the second Sunday.

What’s the Covid-19 protocol?

Covid protocols have now become fairly standard at major events on the ATP Tour. All players will be tested on their arrival at the event hotel – next to the O2 Arena where they will play - and must remain in the hotel until that result is negative.

Anyone who tests positive will be replaced in the tournament and any player found to have left the biosecure bubble will also be evicted from the event with immediate effect.
