Thomas Bjorn has put his faith in experience as he named Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Henrik Stenson and, most surprisingly, Sergio Garcia as his four wildcards for this month’s Ryder Cup.

Team Europe will take to Le Golf National, on the outskirts of Paris, for the three day event on September 28 as they look to reclaim the trophy, having been humbled at Hazeltine two years ago.

The Dane, whose eight qualifiers were confirmed on Sunday following the Made in Denmark tournament, now knows all 12 of his players while his counterpart in America, Jim Furyk, named Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau as three of his four and will announce his 12th pick on Monday.

Bjorn will have to manage five rookies in his side, the same amount as Darren Clarke took to Hazeltine, with Tommy Fleetwood, Alex Noren, Tyrrell Hatton, Jon Rahm and Thorbjorn Olesen all making their debuts this year.
