Sunbury's final fight

Sunbury will face defending champions Ealing in the final of the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy.

A dramatic one-run victory over Surrey League rivals Wimbledon in a rain-shortened semi-final booked Sunbury's ticket to The Oval on 7 September.

In a match reduced from 50 to 30 overs per side, Sunbury were bowled out for a modest 133 but then bowled and fielded like tigers to restrict their visitors to 132 for six.

Sunbury captain Olly Roland-Jones, who bowled the final over which yielded only five runs, said: "It was a brilliant performance in the field to defend 133 successfully like that.

"Everyone at the club is thrilled that we are off to The Oval."

Wimbledon's cricketers have had better weekends. Twenty-four hours earlier, they lost ground to league leaders Reigate Priory with a 58-run defeat against Sunbury.
