Strauss opts to chase target

12 April 2012

Andrew Strauss won his first toss of the NatWest Series as England began their quest to level things at Edgbaston.

Strauss opted to bowl first in the fifth match, which England need to win to seal a 2-2 draw and thus avoid another one-day campaign defeat.

England were unchanged from the team which cruised to an eight-wicket victory under the Trent Bridge floodlights on Friday.

Pakistan, meanwhile, introduced fast bowler Rao Iftikhar Anjum in place of the out-of-form Shoaib Malik.

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who came into this limited-overs campaign following a six-month lay-off with an ankle injury, also sat out the decider.

Opener Imran Farhat was drafted in to open the innings due to Malik's absence.
