Stewart still hoping for Silverstone green light

Sir Jackie Stewart is optimistic Britain can maintain its unbroken run on the Formula One calendar after Silverstone was pencilled in on the draft 2005 schedule.

Silverstone's owners, the British Racing Drivers' Club, have until December to conclude negotiations with Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone.

The FIA, the sport's governing body, will finalise the calendar on 10 December and three-time world champion Stewart, the BRDC president, said: "We will continue negotiations that we hope will conclude with a financially viable British Grand Prix."
