St Bees were much too strong for Cockermouth, winning 37-6.

Their powerfulpack took the game to the home side with a succession of driving mauls andthere was a plentiful supply of line-out ball from No 8 Ian Buchanan.

Northscrum half Jerry Tsang played excellently for his two tries while Englandcentre Stephen Hewetson was in good kicking form, landing three conversionsand two penalties.

Birkenhead won a game of two halves 21-8 at Bishop Heberin south Cheshire.

The Malpas school took the initiative through theirforwards to establish an 8-0 half time lead.

But injuries to key playershit them hard and Birkenhead exploited the weaknesses to score threeconverted tries in the second half.

Cowley's backs finally won the day17-15 at Wilmslow where the home side's pack were in control for most ofthe game.

But Cowley looked dangerous every time the ball went wide and long-range Peter Cook tries, converted by Kevin Picton, proved decisive.
