Ticket re-sale site shut for a fifth day

Games chiefs today came under increasing pressure as the official ticket re-sale site remained closed by technical problems for a fifth day.

Those with unwanted tickets purchased in the ballot have not been able to sell them since the official exchange collapsed within hours of opening last Friday.

Yesterday Locog's website, london2012.com, resumed sales of 1.3 million football tickets and 500,000 Paralympic tickets after four days when it was closed in an embarrassment to Games chiefs during Monday's 200-days-to-go events.

Officials said the exchange remains closed but the resale component might be working again within days or early next week with Locog sponsor Ticketmaster continuing to tackle the problems.

A Locog spokesman said: "We want to ensure that when the site is back up, it is a smooth process for everyone."
