Windsurfer Nick Dempsey comes into this Olympics looking to improve on the bronze he won in 2004.

Age: 31

Born: Norwich, England

Sport: Windsurfing RS:X Class

1. He is married to double Olympic gold medal winning sailor Sarah Ayton.

2. This is his fourth Olympics.

3. He made his Olympic debut aged 20 at Sydney where he finished 16.

4. He began his racing career aged 12 in the RYA Youth National Championships in Poland.

5. He won the World Championships in 2009 in Weymouth which is where the Olympic windsurfing is being held this year.

6. He became the first Britain to win an Olympic windsurfing medal when he won bronze in Athens 2004.

7. Dempsey sails in 2012 determined to improve on the disappointment of finishing fourth in Beijing.

8. He won silver at the Olympic test event in August 2011.

9. He takes a lucky horse shoe to all of his competitions.

10. Dempsey will most likely not be able to take part in the 2016 Olympics because windsurfing is planned to be replaced by kiteboard racing.
