Hannah Cockroft believes the Anniversary Games can act as the perfect springboard for Britain’s Paralympians to break their medal haul from London 2012.

Cockroft won gold over 100 and 200metres in the T34 as the British team picked up 120 medals but the 23-year-old, who returns to the scene of that double triumph tomorrow, said she felt they were even better equipped four years on ahead of Rio.

“We’ve got so much talent I think we can blow that target out of the water,” she said.

“Since London our team, especially in athletics, has so much new talent, so many world records holders now who were sat at home in London 2012 being told they couldn’t join in with sport.

“Now if we all pull through and match our potential I think we can go a long way above that target.

“London is a good test for many of us this weekend but my motivation is to retain everything that I’ve won in the past, including those Paralympic golds.

“It’s amazing to win once but you prove yourself as a better athlete if you go and do it again.”
