Her goalball hat trick wowed Prince Harry and marked her out as one of the rising stars of the Paralympics.

But Anna Sharkey, pictured, who has tunnel vision, is motivated to perform by a higher power than royalty — she and her elder brother, men’s goalball player Michael, are born-again Christians.

She will compete today against Sweden following her hat trick in Great Britain’s 5-0 win against Denmark yesterday.

But despite her faith the player said it did not make her soft on the opposition. Sharkey, 24, said: “Whenever I play I feel like it’s almost my worship to God.”

Sharkey, who lives in Essex, is a physiotherapist.

The siblings were born with retinitis pigmentosa, which Sharkey says is “not enough cells active in the back of the retina”.
