Solomona facing shoulder surgery

12 April 2012

Bradford's former New Zealand international David Solomona is facing up to three months on the sidelines after being told he needs to undergo surgery on his dislocated shoulder.

Solomona sustained the injury in the Bulls' opening game of the season against Hull KR.

However, loose forward Jamie Langley could be back inside three weeks after being told his dislocated shoulder does not require an operation.

"It's disappointing to suffer two injuries like this so early on," coach Steve McNamara told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus.

"We've just got to get on with it as a squad, and that's what we're doing."

The injuries will pave the way for former Harlequins second-rower Michael Worrincy to make his Bradford debut against Huddersfield at Odsal on Friday.

Prop Matt James, who has been recalled from his loan spell at Halifax, and 19-year-old England academy forward Elliott Whitehead have also been named in McNamara's 19-man squad.
