Division Two clubs would have netted £528,800 a season under the ITV Digital contract.

The figure will drop to £285,041 in the Sky Sports deal. Third Division clubs will receive £199,333 when they had expected to bank £354,100 a year.

At least new regulations regarding loan transfers mean League clubs can field a maximum of five loan players at any one time. Example club:

LEYTON ORIENT (Div 3) - Average gate last season: 4,539. Players'wages: £1.25m. Highest earner: £55,000.

Chairman Barry Hearn is in the process of cutting his playing staff from 37 to 24.
