Slack defending costs Blues

Chelsea's dreadful defending from set-pieces allowed Everton to grab a point in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge.

An own-goal from Petr Cech put Everton in front in the 12th minute but goals from Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka gave Chelsea the edge before Yakubu levelled in first-half injury-time.

Drogba restored Chelsea's lead in the 58th minute but Louis Saha scored a lucky equaliser as Carlo Ancelotti's side again failed to deal with a free-kick.

The Toffees went in front in the 12th minute when the home side were again caught out from a set-piece. Leighton Baines sent the free-kick into the penalty area and although Saha headed the ball on to the post, it rebounded off the back of Cech and into the net for an own goal.

It was only the second goal Chelsea had conceded in the Barclays Premier League this season.

But the Blues were level in the 17th minute when Ricardo Carvalho broke forward and evaded a number of challenges before supplying a superb pass for Frank Lampard, who teed up Drogba for a powerful finish.

Anelka then put Chelsea in front when Everton failed to clear Lampard's corner and the Frenchman collected Carvalho's neat pass and fired into the roof of the net from close range.

But Yakubu then shocked Chelsea, pouncing on a loose ball to equalise seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Drogba restored Chelsea's lead in the 58th minute when Branislav Ivanovic crossed the Ivorian's 18th of the season, but another blunder from a free-kick allowed Everton to make it 3-3 in the 63rd minute.

John Heitinga's free-kick caused chaos as Drogba, helping out in a defensive role, headed the ball into the back of the leaping Saha and it bounced back over Cech and into the empty net.
