Sidwell joins Brentford in loan deal

13 April 2012

Brentford have signed Arsenal youngster Steven Sidwell on loan as cover for injured captain Paul Evans and will make his debut against Bury tonight.

Evans has been told he will be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury and Sidwell is regarded as a natural replacement.

The 18-year-old has earned a reputation at Highbury as a goalscoring midfielder after helping the Gunners to two consecutive FA Youth Cup triumphs.

Martin Rowlands returns from a three-match suspension for Brentford, who are top of Division Two, but Michael Dobson is doubtful with a groin injury.
