Sheva inks new Milan deal

Andriy Shevchenko has signed a new contract with AC Milan which ties him to the club until at least 2009.

The Italian champions revealed today that Serie A's top scorer last season, whose deal was due to run out in July 2005, had signed a four-year extension.

There had been speculation in Italy that Chelsea were ready to make a serious offer for the 27-year-old former Dynamo Kiev striker who helped Milan to the title with 24 goals. Newspaper reports said Roman Abramovich planned to travel to Milan tomorrow to make his offer.
