Shades of 1971 for Arsenal

14 April 2012

If it was good enough for Charlie George and the boys of '71...

Arsenal today launched their new retro look away kit for the 2003-2004 season.

The club has returned to a traditional yellow away shirt, a colour which has been part of many historic moments for Arsenal, including the 1971 'Double' season and the dramatic victory in the 1979 FA Cup Final.

To celebrate the launch, kit sponsors Nike have recreated the famous image of George, celebrating after his injury-time winner in the 1971 FA Cup Final, using current Arsenal striker and France international Thierry Henry. The kit is due to be first worn by the Gunners against Manchester United in The FA Community Shield at The Millennium Stadium on Sunday 10 August.

The new lightweight stretch fabric away kit will be available to buy on Thursday 7 August, but Gunners' supporters can pre-order a kit by calling Arsenal Home Shopping on 020 8342 5858.

If the purchase is made through official Arsenal shops, supporters will receive a free football and cap.
