A security guard has been fired after performing an indecent act in front of 68,000 fans at an NFL game.

A video emerged on Facebook earlier this week showing an unidentified employee of security firm Elite engaging in “disturbing action” during a San Diego Chargers match on Sunday.

The Chargers’ home game against the Oakland Raiders saw a near-capacity crowd attend the Qualcomm Stadium but several in the crowd reported seeing a security guard with his hands in his trousers whilst stood near a group of cheerleaders.

Yesterday the company that employed the security guard acted swiftly, confirming they had “terminated” their employee’s contract, adding that the individual had been subject to a screening proves that offered nothing to “indicate that this type of conduct was foreseeable”.

“Elite would like to apologise to anyone who was offended by this isolated incident,” the security company confirmed in a statement.

“Additionally, Elite has opened a formal investigation into the matter and has acted swiftly in terminating the employee involved.

“Elite insists on the highest moral standards from our employees.”

The employee has not been named.

“We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday’s game,” a statement from the Chargers said. “We apologise to any fans who may have witnessed the incident.”
