Saracens fear over Luger

Saracens will today contact the England management in a bid to discover just how long they will be without wing Dan Luger.

Clive Woodward, the England team manager, has revealed that Luger's neck injury, suffered against Wales, could keep him out of the entire Six Nations campaign. This would have a severe impact on Sarries bid for Heineken Cup qualification this season.

Sarries chief Francois Pienaar, who will not be able to claim compensation from the Rugby Football Union until Luger misses four Sarries matches, said: "I didn't know that the verdict on Dan meant he could miss the Championship. We don't know much about the situation because he's under the care of the England medical team but we're going to have to find out about this."

Pienaar is also negotiating to keep nine of his top players, including England's Danny Grewcock, Kyran Bracken and Richard Hill, who are out of contract this season.

"The players have all said they want to stay and now it's a case of agreeing terms,"said Pienaar.
