Santini is calling for calm

Jacques Santini has appealed for patience from Tottenham's fans in the wake of his side's faltering Premiership campaign.

The Spurs head coach has suffered three successive league defeats, while there has been mounting criticism over the team's lack of goals.

Santini said: "I repeat what I said after two or three games that this season is very long and very hard because we have a new team with new players and young players. We need time.

"It is difficult. We have three or four players injured, Sean Davis hasn't played for two months, Simon Davies was out for a long time and perhaps isn ' t 100 per cent."

After crashing 2-0 at Fulham on Saturday, Spurs face successive derbies against Charlton and Arsenal in the league with a Carling Cup clash with Burnley sandwiched between them on Tuesday.

Santini is not satisfied with the manner of Spurs' recent performances and is hoping for significant improvement over the next fortnight.

He said: "The game against Fulham was disappointing and we need to find a solution because next week is very important.

"We have two games at home against Charlton and Arsenal and another important game in the Carling Cup against Burnley. We have possibilities in this competition.

"When we play derbies it is important for the club and the fans but at Fulham we didn't have a good game."
