Saints send Gloucester packing

13 April 2012

Northampton captain Pat Lam urged his team-mates to use Saturday's 34-15 win over Gloucester as the springboard for a Premiership title challenge.

The inspirational Lam said: 'We can still be in it. After our exit from the European Cup, the Premiership is all we've got to play for so we have got to build on this win and aim to win each game we play.'

Tries from Matt Allen, Ben Cohen and Harvey Thorneycroft - his 100th for Saints - and 19 points from the boot of stand-in kicker Matt Dawson secured a much-needed win for the Saints.

Lam said: 'It was very hard work out there. We knew Gloucester would be very physical. I thought we handled it very well and the bruises don't hurt so much when you win.

'We have all worked hard since we got knocked out of Europe and we are running hard with the ball, which is making all the difference.'
