Saha hungry to end Utd goal famine

Louis Saha says Manchester United are underperforming by 20 per cent and running out of time to catch Arsenal.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side are 11 points behind their Highbury rivals in the Premiership and going through a goalscoring crisis.

They face each other at Old Trafford on Sunday with leaders Arsenal in great form and on an unbeaten run of 49 league games.

But Saha believes it is an opportunity to kick-start United's season.

He said: "Everybody knows this is a mustwin match for us. It is going to be pretty difficult but everybody is looking forward to it. We have had a few bad results and need to beat them so they do not get too far ahead.

"Everybody in the league wants to beat Arsenal and be the team who breaks their run, but I think it would be best if it was United." Saha, who has only recently returned to the side after a six week lay-off with a knee injury, says United have not clicked yet this season.

"The whole team needs to improve by 20 per cent because we can all do better.

"People have started to knock us and there have been too many draws. We have got to rectify that."

One of the reasons United have only recorded three league wins this season is a simple lack of goals.

They have scored 20 fewer than Arsenal after nine Premiership games despite Wayne Rooney and Alan Smith joining their strikeforce this term.

Former Fulham striker Saha says it is a matter of when, and not if, things will click in front of goal: "When you have a striker like Ruud you know that if he gets the right service, he will score goals.

"We have got a few strikers now and I think we can all fit in very well, but we have to adapt, and as quickly as possible.

"I think we can still win the title, but the next few months will be decisive."
