Tired Boks in the mood for one final push

South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer believes victory over England at Twickenham would be the ideal way to end a long season.

The 21-10 win over Scotland followed a hard-fought victory over Ireland. Saturday’s match was their 11th Test in five months with the run including, for the first time, the expanded Tri Nations with Argentina joining the Springboks, Australia and the All Blacks for The Rugby Championship.

Meyer said: “Although we made a lot of mistakes against Scotland, I am happy with the performance and the character of this team has improved. It was not a great game but I’ll take an ugly win

“I don’t want to use this an excuse but it’s been a long year and for a lot of the guys in the second half it just wasn’t there.

“Suddenly, just after half-time there was huge swing in the momentum of the game, then we held on but that is how you win trophies and World Cups. The guys will definitely learn from this because we were under huge pressure to keep them out.”
