The opening weekend of the World Cup has been a memorable one.

There have been tries aplenty as the world's elite rugby nations have began to battle it out for the Web Ellis trophy.

Host nation England secured a valuable victory over Fiji at Twickenham before Japan stunned the globe with a narrow win over former champions South Africa.

Few fans, or experts, would even have given Eddie Jones' side a puncher's chance prior to kick off but the Japanese pulled off a result that could go down as the biggest upset in team sport at international level. Yes, it was that big a result.

Meanwhile, Wales eased past Argentina, France saw off Italy and Georgia edged past Tonga.

Elsewhere, Argentina made a fist of it against favourites New Zealand while Ireland thumped Canada into touch.

But how do you rate the best scores that we have witnessed so far? It's a difficult task but there can be little debate about the most important; Karne Hesketh's heroci effort for the Japanese was worth so much more than five points.
