Scotland boss wants all the talking to stop

29 January 2013

Scotland interim head coach Scott Johnson is refusing to predict how his players will perform in the RBS Six Nations as he struggles to deal with the pressure of being in charge of last season’s worst team.

Johnson (above) insists it is time for people to stop talking about his side’s prospects and for his players to prove they have what it takes to succeed. His predecessor, Andy Robinson, led the side to the wooden spoon in last year’s competition before resigning after a 21-15 loss to Tonga in November.

But Johnson was adamant speculating over the Scots’ chances of success was a pointless exercise.

He said: “Everyone keeps asking me to say what a successful tournament will be but let’s stop talking about [how we will fare]. It’s about deeds.”
