Neil Back says head coach Eddie Jones must recall Sam Simmonds to solve England’s breakdown problems.

Simmonds returned to action on Sunday, following the shoulder injury he sustained against Wales, as Exeter beat Saracens 24-12.

Before the game, the 23-year-old was named in the squad to face France on Saturday. In his absence, Scotland dominated the breakdown area against England in a 25-13 win.

Former England flanker Back said: “Sam has the pace, handling and ability over the ball to be the answer.

“The French back row is different to Scotland’s and if you get in an arm wrestle, you could come unstuck. We will try and move them around and tire their pack out.”
