Jack Clifford is out of England’s November test matches after being told he needs surgery on an ankle injury.

Harlequins flanker Clifford sustained the ankle injury against Exeter Chiefs and will undergo surgery.

The England back row is expected to be out for around ten weeks and James Chisholm will come in at No8 against Saracens on Saturday.

John Kington said: “It is very disappointing and unfortunate that Jack has sustained his ankle injury which will keep him out for approximately ten weeks.

"He is a fierce competitor and I have no doubt he will work exceptionally hard to get himself back on the field as quickly as possible.”

Clifford made his Test debut against Scotland at Murrayfield in February as Eddie Jones's men opened their Six Nations Grand Slam success with a 15-9 win.

The 23-year-old has since made seven appearances for England including two in the historic whitewash of Australia in June.
