Alex Goode returns from injury for Saracens on Sunday feeling more powerful than ever.

Goode was sidelined for nearly 12 weeks by ankle ligament damage and joins England internationals Owen Farrell, Mako Vunipola, Jamie George, Maro Itoje and Billy Vunipola in the side to face Bath at Allianz Park.

Scotland’s Sean Maitland and Chris Ashton will also feature, with Goode in a potent back three as the European and Premiership champions aim to rediscover their best form heading into the Champions Cup quarter-final against Glasgow Warriors a week later.

Goode, who was left out of the Six Nations squad in December despite helping England win the Grand Slam last season, believes he is now even quicker and stronger, thanks to his rehabilitation programme.

He said: “It allowed me to work on a few areas and sort out a few niggles. Every week was planned out so that I could make real progress. I got a lot of confidence from the strength and power work I have done, especially getting my lower body stronger, helping me become more explosive.

“It has also had a huge impact on my speed, which is looking really positive. I have come back with so much still to play for this season and we want to be in this position every year.”

Lock George Kruis is the only member of Sarries’ England contingent out of the squad, although he is expected to return from knee surgery this season.
