'Robert can lump it'

13 April 2012

Sir Bobby Robson insisted he was right to take off French winger Laurent Robert after the pair had a furious touchline row during Newcastle's 3-0 win over Real Mallorca in Palma.

Robson, whose side clinched a 7-1 aggregate win and a UEFA Cup quarterfinal with PSV Eindhoven, was unhappy with Robert's petulant reaction to being substituted on 66 minutes.

Robson said: "I didn't like his performance, that's why I took him off. If he doesn't like it, he can lump it."

Two goals from skipper Alan Shearer and one from Craig Bellamy sealed the emphatic victory.
