Richardson drug ban to stand

British 400 metres sprinter Mark Richardson will not appeal after accepting a two-year ban imposed by the International Amateur Athletic Federation.

The IAAF turned down UK Athletics' request for an early reprieve for Richardson, who tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone in 1999.

Commonwealth silver medallist Richardson had been banned by the IAAF for two years, but UK Athletics - British athletics' ruling body - lifted their own suspension last July.

But the IAAF did welcome a proposal from UK Athletics for Richardson to teach youngsters about the dangers of contaminated food supplements.
