Redknapp satisfied with settlement

Harry Redknapp expressed his relief after agreeing a contract settlement with West Ham.

The Professional Footballers' Association helped thrash out a deal for Redknapp, and assistant Frank Lampard senior, who also left the club last week.

Redknapp said: "I'm very pleased with the way the club has handled this situation. I shall always be a West Ham supporter and I wish them well."

Meanwhile, Cameroon defender Rigobert Song and Australian international Hayden Foxe - who both joined West Ham this season - have said they want to stay at Upton Park.

Redknapp pulled out all the stops to sign Foxe after he had three work permit applications rejected. The Australian player admitted: "It was a major shock for me to hear that Harry had left.

"Harry stood by me and it helps, when you arrive at a new club, that the manager really wants you there. It is certainly not the happiest times at the club at the moment.

"One of the main reasons I came to West Ham was because of Harry, but I have no intentions of leaving.

"I've signed for four years and I want to be here for that time."

Song said: "I want give my best for West Ham and I want to win honours with the club."
