Redknapp rules Campbell out

12 April 2012

Sol Campbell is the latest England player to be ruled out of the pivotal Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia.

In a fresh injury blow for England coach Steve McClaren, Portsmouth defender Campbell missed Sunday's 3-1 defeat by Arsenal with a hamstring injury - and Pompey boss Harry Redknapp insists the former Gunners centre-back will be out for a fortnight, adding to McClaren's lengthy list of absentees.

Redknapp said: "Sol's not fit to play for England. We need to get him back and fit to play for Portsmouth in the next two weeks. That's the key. We spoke to the doctors and they know he's not fit. I think he will report and then come back to us."
