Red Bull hoping they can give Coulthard wins

David Coulthard is in pole position for a Formula One drive with Red Bull Racing in 2005.

Team managing director David Pitchforth clearly backs Coulthard and hopes a deal might be concluded before the resumption of preseason testing next month.

Asked whether he would sign the former McLaren driver if it was his decision, Pitchforth said: "He's got all the experience and the ability to take the team forward so, most likely, yes. Having an experienced driver is a no-brainer."

The 33-year-old Scot had a solid test in Spain last week with the former Jaguar team bought from Ford by Austrian billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz.

However, he faces stiff competition from Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi and Austrian Christian Klien.
