Reading full-back Shorey gets his wish and joins Villa in £3m deal
Reading left-back Nicky Shorey has finally got his wish and will join in a £3million deal after undergoing a medical today.
The Royals accepted the bid last night after the 27-year-old made it clear he saw his future away from the Madejski Stadium following Steve Coppell's side's relegation to the Coca-Cola Championship.
Villa managed to beat off competition from rivals Sunderland who had a £2m bid rejected by Reading last week.

Portsmouth were also in the running for Shorey but manager Harry Redknapp was told this week he must off-load some of his highly-paid players before making any more signings.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill was desperate to land the England international as a replacement for Wilfred Bouma who has a long-term ankle injury.
It means Shorey will link up with former Reading team-mate Steve Sidwell, who joined Villa Park in a £5.5million deal from Chelsea last month.
The duo are best friends and that is understood to be another major reason why Shorey chose to join the Midlands club.
Villa will discuss personal terms with the full-back before unveiling him at a press conference tomorrow.
Reading will hand over £450,000 to Shorey's former club Leyton Orient as they have a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
Villa have also agreed a fee with Middlesbrough for England right-back Luke Young.
The club will discuss personal terms with the 29-year-old today.
