Raymond van Barneveld sealed his place in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship with a 3-0 win over Warren Parry.

Van Barneveld did not drop a leg as the crowd roared him on against the out-of-sorts New Zealander at London's Alexandra Palace.

"Every year I come back and I wonder why they want to cheer for a Dutchman," said Van Barneveld. "They're fantastic. I think he was too nervous because of the crowd. There's always a lot of pressure in the first game. You don't want to think about losing."

Van Barneveld is hoping for another final showdown with world No1 Phil Taylor.

"I desperately want to be in the final this year," said the 2007 champion. "Last year he beat me with 111, an amazing average. I hope to get revenge."

Kevin Painter, the 16th seed, beat Austria's Mensur Suljovic in four sets and said: "It wasn't my best display but I'm happy I won."
