Rangers: Flo isn't going to Fulham

Leo Spall13 April 2012

Rangers manager Alex McLeish has dismissed reports that Tore Andre Flo could be on his way to Fulham.

The Norwegian striker claimed he had heard of Fulham's interest but McLeish insists talk of the former Chelsea star moving back to London is wide of the mark.

"Tore is happy at Rangers, it is as simple as that," said McLeish. "We've had no approach from Fulham and we don't want one either. He is worried that supporters will read a story like that and think that his heart is not here and that is not the case.

"He and his family are happy in Scotland. All he wants to do is concentrate on doing well for this club.

"We have great spirit in the dressing room and stories like this will not affect us, but I feel we have to set the record straight."

Meanwhile, Fulham defender Alain Goma is being tipped to win back his place in France's squad for this summer's World Cup finals. The 29-year-old, who should play against Middlesbrough at The Riverside tonight, has won only two caps because of injuries, but faces stiff competition from players such as Chelsea's Marcel Desailly.

His last international appearance was four years ago, but in the past three seasons he has spent more than six months on the sidelines because of an Achilles injury, hip problems and disagreements with those in charge of Newcastle before he moved to Craven Cottage.

Fulham's assistant manager Christian Damiano believes Goma still has a chance to feature in Japan and South Korea.

He said: "Alain's played for France before and now he is back to his best. He has the quality to play for his country.

"He has a big reputation and he is a very important player for us. I do not know who they will take to the World Cup, but he must be close to getting into the national team. There is still time for him. Fulham have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season, which is a remarkable achievement, and Alain has been important in that.

"He has played many consecutive games, which has helped, and he is much stronger than when he first came here. Touch wood, his injury problems are behind him."

Fulham have no new injury problems for the trip to Middlesbrough, who are only three points above the relegation zone.

Steve McClaren's side will be without striker Hamilton Ricard (broken toe) and midfielder Phil Stamp (shoulder).

Defender Gianluca Festa is suspended but midfielder Jonathan Greening returns after serving a ban.
