QPR are holding more talks with Ajax over forward Kolbeinn Sigthorsson after having an initial £5m bid rejected.

Manager Harry Redknapp is a huge admirer of the 24-year-old and watched him in action for the Dutch club last season.

Sigthorsson has scored 24 League goals in 59 appearances since joining from AZ Alkmaar in 2011 and Ajax are looking for closer to £10m for him.

Negotiations are ongoing though and Redknapp is also making another move for Gary Hooper after missing out on him last year.

Hooper joined Norwich from Celtic for £5m instead, but Redknapp feels he can succeed this time following QPR’s promotion to the top flight and Norwich’s relegation to the Championship.

QPR are also optimistic about a deal for defender Steven Caulker having agreed an £8m fee with Cardiff City.

Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “It’s up to Steven if he goes. Of course the lure of the Premier League might be too much for us to hope he might stay here. He has to make that decision.”
