Pires gets shirty over fine

Robert Pires today hit out at the £35,000 fine imposed on him by the French FA for wearing the wrong shirt during an interview while on international duty.

The Arsenal midfielder was photographed wearing a Puma shirt - and France are sponsored by adidas.

But Pires he was shocked by the size of the penalty compared to the £2,000 Spain manager Luis Aragones was fined for his race attack on Thierry Henry and former West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio's £7,000 punishment for a Nazi salute after a Lazio game.

"There must be something wrong when you compare the fines of Aragones and Di Canio," said Pires.
