Perry on the comeback trail

Adrian Curtis13 April 2012

Tottenham defender Chris Perry will return from injury in the reserves tonight.

Spurs face Charlton at Clarence Park at St Albans in a Premier Reserve League fixture and coach Chris Hughton confirmed that Perry, who has been out with a calf injury, will take part as a step towards a first team return against West Ham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Hughton said: "Chris is down to play and that will be a massive bonus for us. Hopefully, he'll then be available for West Ham on Sunday."

Perry returned to training last week but was never in with a chance of making the squad for the trip to Derby after a calf injury sustained against Manchester City last month required both internal and external stitches.

Perry said: "I had quite a deep gash just below my calf that went into the muscle."

Meanwhile, Hannu Tihinen has pleaded with West Ham to sort out his future so he doesn't have to return to Norway later today.

Tihinen, 24, said: "I want to stay at West Ham. I have been trying to concentrate on my football but it is proving a very difficult situation for me because I don't know where my future lies."
