Pearce: FA want me to stay

Stuart Pearce revealed in Wednesday that he had been offered a new two-year contract as England Under-21 boss.

And he admitted he would also jump at the chance to manage Great Britain's Olympic football team at next year's London Games.

Pearce's current contract with the Football Association expires after this summer's UEFA Under-21 Championships, but he said: "My contract finishes in the summer. I spoke with Trevor Brooking about a month ago. He's keen to extend it for another two years. I enjoy the job I do, so if it's workable, it might well happen."

The FA had hoped to win the right to host the 2013 Under-21 Championship, which would have allowed them to disband the England team for a year while Pearce coached Team GB.

With qualifying games now to be played next season, that could complicate matters.

Pearce said: "I've no idea about the Olympics. I might be throwing the hammer.

"If I was asked to take a team to the Olympics, I'd be delighted to accept."
