Pay cut for Crespo if he stays with Blues

Hernan Crespo will have to take a pay-cut if he chooses to return to Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho has told the Argentina striker that he would welcome him back from his loan spell at AC Milan in the summer, but only if he agrees to come into line with the club's new wage structure.

Crespo was Chelsea's top earner last season on £94,000-a-week but the club are no longer willing to pay such extravagant wages. Under a new wage structure put in place this season, John Terry and Frank Lampard are the club's highest earners on £80,000-a-week and they are not prepared to shatter this system to accommodate Crespo.

The 29-year-old is likely to stay with Milan if Chelsea can agree a fee with the Italian club, with the Londoners seeking £8million for a player they paid £16.8m for less than two years ago.

Meanwhile, Mikael Forssell continued his comeback from a knee injury playing 45 minutes in Chelsea's reserves in a 1-1 draw against Fulham.
