Pardew hopes are on the up

Alan Pardew today insisted that West Ham can gain automatic promotion this season. He was a relieved man after his team clawed back a twogoal deficit to beat Watford 3-2.

"It was a must-win game," the West Ham manager said. Hopefully, the fans will now embrace us and we can go on a run. I still believe we can get [automatic] promotion."

Watford were 2-0 up through Brynjar Gunnarsson and Bruce Dyer, but goals by Nigel Reo-Coker, Darren Powell and Sergei Rebrov turned the game on its head. Watford manager Ray Lewington said: "We can't dwell on it. We have to get ourselves back on track immediately."
