Paraguay hit by River of troubles

13 April 2012

Paraguay's coach Cesare Maldini could have trouble getting his squad together for next week's friendly against England at Anfield.

River Plate full-back Ricardo Rojas, who has been in self-imposed exile since being left on the substitutes' bench during the 1998 World Cup in France, is expected to reject the invitation to play.

River Plate, the Argentine league leaders, will also probably make a fuss over the release of defenders Celso Ayala and Pedro Sarabia.

They have a top-of-the-table match against Gimnasia-La Plata on the same day as the Anfield match and are expected to ask for Ayala and Sarabia not to be picked.
