Tyson Fury’s UK Anti-Doping hearing is expected to last until at least Wednesday after the boxer gave evidence in London on Monday.

Fury gave evidence alongside his cousin Hughie – a fellow heavyweight boxer – with both facing suspensions should it be proven that small traces of a substance, believed to be nandrolone, were found in samples given in February 2015. Tyson and Hughie both strongly denied doping, and have taken legal action against UKAD over the allegation.

Those samples were taken less than a year before Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko to claim the WBA, WBO, IBF heavyweight titles. Fury also faces an additional charge after failing to provide a sample last year, though he hopes to avoid a ban by explaining that he was suffering from a mental illness.

Refusal to carry out a drugs test can result in a four-year ban.

Speaking ahead of the hearing, Fury remained hopeful of returning to the ring this summer before once again signalling his intent to fight Anthony Joshua, who defeated Klitschko last month at Wembley Stadium

"I’ll be back on the July 8 Copper Box show headlined by Billy Joe Saunders against Danny DeVito [Avtandil Khurtsidze]," Fury told britishboxers.co.uk.

"I’ll have a few comeback fights, two or three, while I’m waiting for [Anthony] Joshua. There’s no money in anybody else, I want ‘Mr Muscles’.

“I can be the best Tyson Fury again, it didn’t slip away, I just couldn’t be bothered no more, it was s*** and I didn’t value it, but now there’s £30m involved.

"I was a shadow of my former glory but now I’m on my way back. With me and Joshua, one looks the part, one is the part.”

Should Fury avoid a UKAD suspension then he hopes to have his boxing license reinstated by the British Boxing Board of Control. The BBBofC revoked his license after Fury tested positive twice for cocaine last year.
