Muhammad Ali has always had a 'special affinity' with London.

As Standard Sport's John Dillon mentioned in his latest column, Ali - who passed away on Friday aged 74 - was 'adored' whenever he came to Britain, and held a unique place in the hearts of fans that transcended his boxing talents.

Thousands have visited “I Am The Greatest,” a splendid exhibition about his life and works at the O2 Arena since it opened in March.

Dillon wrote in his column that Ali's relationship with London extended far beyond the boxing ring and included countless social and promotional trips, honorary visits like the particularly memorable one he made to Brixton in 1999 and, of course, a regular slot on Michael Parkinson’s BBC TV chat show.
