David Weir is set for a track farewell at next month’s Anniversary Games in the London Stadium, where he won four Paralympic gold medals four years ago.

Weir had pledged to never race in British colours again following a bullying row with coach Jenni Banks.

But the 38-year-old has agreed to make a one-off track return on Sunday, July 9.

He said: “It’s an opportunity to say goodbye to the fans and I jumped at the chance. I just felt that there was no desire for me to race on the track any more and this will be like a testimonial for me. The chance to compete one last time in the London Stadium was something I just couldn’t miss.”

"It is such a special place for me and London 2012 was the highlight of my career, so to have one last race and get a big send-off in that stadium will be fantastic.

"When I get out onto the track and hear the crowd for the last time, I am sure the memories of London 2012 will come flooding back."
